David Couper writes comedy and drama, often expressing the fish out of water syndrome that he first encountered when he moved from his home to a foreign country. His scripts have been optioned.

These are some of his current scripts.

Comedies

Double Act

Estranged twin brothers, one a straight pool-cleaner and one a gay in-the-closet TV star, switch lives and find out that there are two stars in the family and that as brothers they are more alike than they ever knew.

Charmers

Female Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – a young temp tired of being put down by her boss takes revenge with the help of an older confidence trickster who is looking to do her last con and retire. The duo-fem take on a group of five men bringing each one down with a mix of brains and beauty.
Cooks Single-minded executive goes back to school to learn how to cook, but finds that he has no talent, and for the first time in his life that he is going to fail, until he accepts help from a woman who understands food and life.

Kanterbury

Inspired by Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. To get his girlfriend, back, Jeff Chaucer must prove that he is responsible and keep his new job, driving a motley bunch of passengers on a pilgrimage, from Chicago to Minneapolis, and the biggest mall in America.

Family Function

When Martin comes out of the closet his mother has a stroke. Convinced that there are no coincidences he takes care of her while being the perfect executive and lover to his Hispanic boyfriend. His mother is losing his mind and he is losing his condo, his house and his lover. Being perfect is never easy.

Dramas

Truth Unknown

When his best friend and ex-girlfriend, Tori, asks for help Judd agrees. Tori’s husband, Paul, has been found dead in a car accident but Tori is convinced that it is murder. As Judd investigates, he discovers not only that lots of people would like Paul dead, including Tori, but that he also still loves her. Can he love a murderer? Set in Asia, in an expatriate community, the story is set against the clash of cultures.

Friends and Enemies
